Save Independence Heights Campaign

“Save Independence Heights” is a grass roots campaign organized by the Historical Independence Heights Neighborhood Council and the Independence Heights Redevelopment Council. At the heart of the SAVE Independence Heights campaign is the issue of effective community participation.  The campaign will increase awareness about the historical importance of Independence Heights as the first city incorporated by African Americans in the State of Texas. Beginning in September 2007, a series of media messages will be displayed throughout the community at various locations using multiple media outlets.
